Finding the Right Typography with the Best Time Font

I was staring at the mockup for a new recipe ebook. The cover felt flat. The title, “Everyday Gatherings,” looked sterile and corporate in the clean sans-serif I had chosen initially. It was supposed to evoke warmth, the kind of casual, handwritten notes you might jot down for a friend. I needed a font that felt like an invitation, not a instruction manual. That’s when I rediscovered Best Time.

The Character of a Friendly Handwritten Font

Best Time is, as its description suggests, sweet and friendly. Its strokes have a natural, organic rhythm—they aren’t overly perfect or digitally rigid. There’s a gentle variation in letterforms that mimics the flow of actual handwriting, but without the messy unpredictability that can hinder readability in design. This creates a unique style that sits comfortably between a casual script and a polished display font.

Its personality is approachable and warm. The mood it sets is one of authenticity and personal touch. For editorial projects, this is incredibly valuable. It brings a human element to digital and print layouts, making headers and titles feel less anonymous and more connected. When you use Best Time for a blog header or a chapter opener, it doesn’t shout; it speaks in a calm, confident voice.

Building a Visual Hierarchy with Feeling

In my recipe ebook project, I applied Best Time to the main title and the section headers for chapters like “Weekend Brunches” and “Cozy Suppers.” Immediately, the hierarchy of the page became clearer and more emotionally resonant. The soft, distinct letterforms of Best Time naturally drew the reader’s eye first, establishing the primary focus. Then, I paired it with a legible serif font for the body recipe text and a clean sans-serif for ingredient lists and captions.

This pairing is a classic editorial approach: a distinctive display font like Best Time for attention-grabbing elements, supported by highly readable fonts for longer content. It creates consistency and strengthens the publication’s identity. For a lifestyle blog redesign, using Best Time consistently across post titles or featured graphics builds a recognizable brand aesthetic that audiences can connect with over time.

Where Best Time Shines in Editorial Design

Best Time is a premium display font. Its strength lies in application for titles, subtitles, pull quotes, logos, and decorative accents. It’s perfect for:

While its friendly style is engaging, it’s best used for shorter text blocks. For longer reading paragraphs, a more neutral serif or sans-serif companion font is essential for maintaining readability, especially on screens or in mobile layouts.

Practical Considerations for Creators

Before embedding Best Time into a template or paid product, it’s wise to check its technical specs. Does it include the styles, alternates, and ligatures you need? Ligatures can improve the flow of connected letters in a script font. What about multilingual support if your audience is global? Understanding the included file formats ensures smooth exports for PDFs, web graphics, and print materials.

Crucially, verify its commercial font licensing. If you’re using it in ebooks, printables, client publications, or digital downloads you sell, a commercial license is typically required. This ensures you’re using the font correctly and supporting the type designer.

Readability Across Mediums

When testing Best Time for the recipe ebook, I exported sample pages as a PDF and viewed them on a tablet, phone, and printed test sheet. As a display font, it performed well. The characters were clear and distinct at larger sizes. On mobile, the title remained legible because I used it sparingly and with ample spacing. For print, like a printable planner or wedding guide, its organic style feels particularly tactile and appropriate.

The key is size and context. Using it at too small a size for secondary information can compromise readability. Reserve it for primary focal points where its charm can be fully appreciated without straining the reader’s eye.

A Font for the Content You Care About

Returning to my project, the ebook cover transformed. “Everyday Gatherings” now looked like a lovingly written title on a personal cookbook. That initial moment of choosing a font set the tone for the entire interior layout. Best Time provided the anchor—the visual voice—that everything else supported.

It’s a font that asks you to consider the feeling you want your content to impart. Is it warm? Authentic? Inviting? For bloggers, publishers, and designers crafting content brands, that consideration is everything. Typography isn’t just about letters on a page; it’s about building a better, more engaging reading experience from the very first word a reader sees. Best Time offers a way to make that first word, and every key heading thereafter, feel thoughtfully chosen.
